Basketball Recap: Carver Gets the Win

If Decatur wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Carver, they should've done a better job of containing Amiyah Floyd. The Carver Panthers took down the Decatur Bulldogs 39-25 on Monday thanks in part to Floyd, who posted 24 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Decatur saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryan Elmahdi earned 12 points and three steals. Elmahdi is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

The win got Carver back to even at 9-9. As for Decatur, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver will venture away from home to challenge Therrell at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Decatur, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chamblee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Decatur is facing Chamblee at the right time seeing as Chamblee is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
