Baseball Game Preview: Middle Township Panthers vs. Lower Cape May Tigers

The Middle Township Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Lower Cape May Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middle Township is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

While Middle Township didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Bridgeton 14-3 on Wednesday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Lower Cape May started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Cedar Creek. They lost 12-1 to the Pirates on Wednesday.

Lower Cape May saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt DiCave, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. DiCave is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Middle Township's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Lower Cape May, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Middle Township has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lower Cape May struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts.
