Basketball Game Preview: Standley Lake Gators vs. Longmont Trojans

The Standley Lake Gators will head out to face off against the Longmont Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Standley Lake is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Northglenn: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Standley Lake blew Northglenn out of the water with a 50-17 final score. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season.

Standley Lake found their leader in sophomore Sydney Martin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 rebounds. Martin is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Kameron Mireles-Ciancio was another key player, going 7 for 13 on her way to 16 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Longmont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past Centaurus with a 46-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Longmont pushed their record up to 4-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Standley Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Standley Lake strolled past Longmont when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 45-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Standley Lake since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
