Baseball Recap: Aztec Tigers vs. Bloomfield Bobcats
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Aztec can now relate to. They lost 21-8 to the Bloomfield Bobcats on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-5 loss on Friday.
Jace Archuleta was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
Archuleta wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cory Douglas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Aztec and nudges their season record down to 20-8. As for Bloomfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-9.
As of now, neither Aztec nor the Bobcats have any future games scheduled.
