Preview: Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans vs. Tarkington Longhorns
The Coldspring-Oakhurst Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Tarkington Longhorns at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Coldspring-Oakhurst has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Coldspring-Oakhurst came up short against Onalaska and fell 61-52.
Meanwhile, Tarkington lost to Crockett at home by a decisive 54-38 margin last Friday. While losing is never fun, Tarkington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1179th, while Crockett is ranked 497th).
Coldspring-Oakhurst bumped their record down to 8-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tarkington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.
Coldspring-Oakhurst skirted past Tarkington 32-29 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Coldspring-Oakhurst since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
