Baseball Recap: North East Gets the Win

On Saturday, the North East Grape Pickers earned an 11-6 victory over the Obama Academy of International Studies Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grape Pickers.

Caleb Triana made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jerek Turlij was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braydon Cornman, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

North East's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North East will head out to challenge Seneca at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Obama Academy of International Studies will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Steel Valley at 3:30 p.m. on March 27th.
