Basketball Game Preview: Baraboo Thunderbirds vs. Mount Horeb Vikings

Baraboo hasn't had much luck against Mount Horeb recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Baraboo Thunderbirds will welcome the Mount Horeb Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Baraboo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a blow against Edgewood on Tuesday, falling 90-60. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 397th, while the Crusaders are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mount Horeb, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 60-19 win over Portage. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mount Horeb's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24 points. As for Baraboo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Baraboo was dealt a bruising 65-24 defeat at the hands of Mount Horeb in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Baraboo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
