Soccer Game Preview: Southern Wayne vs. Fike

Southern Wayne is 0-6 against Fike since April of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Saints will head out to challenge the Demons at 6:30 p.m. Southern Wayne has given up an average of 3.9 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Southern Wayne's offense. They lost 10-0 to Hunt on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Southern Wayne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Hunt are ranked 77th).

Meanwhile, Fike had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Golden Falcons a 3-0 shutout. Considering Fike have won seven contests by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

This is the second loss in a row for Southern Wayne and nudges their season record down to 0-10-6. As for Fike, their win bumped their record up to 11-4-2.

Southern Wayne suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Fike when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
