Baseball Recap: Fort Morgan Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

There's no place like home for Fort Morgan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against the Niwot Cougars by a score of 4-1 on Saturday. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cooper Chisum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort Morgan is 7-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Fort Morgan's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Miguel Davila, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Fort Morgan's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Niwot, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-14.

Fort Morgan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Niwot, they will be playing at home against Wheat Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars are facing the Farmers at the right time seeing as the Farmers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
