Piqua is 0-5 against Kenton Ridge since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Indians will venture away from home to challenge the Cougars at 12:00 p.m.
On Friday, Piqua came up short against Stebbins and fell 5-2.
Owen Shawler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Kenton Ridge waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Braves as they made off with a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Julian Daniels was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Zach Deel was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Jakob Groeschel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Kenton Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Kenton Ridge pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Piqua, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Piqua couldn't quite finish off Kenton Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
