Softball Game Preview: Liberty Redhawks vs. Lone Star Rangers

For the second straight game, Liberty will face off against Lone Star. The Redhawks will take on the Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Liberty heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Lone Star by a score of 4-3. The Redhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addison Hanson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Delila Bond made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Lone Star has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-8.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345.
