Volleyball Recap: MAST Academy Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact MAST Academy can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Downtown Doral Dolphins on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Makos of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Olivia Crisan paced MAST Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Crisan got some help from Ariadna Ros and her 12 assists. Ros was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Downtown Doral found their leader in freshman Ana Galindo, who had six digs and three aces. Fatima Lacal was another key player, getting ten digs and four assists.

MAST Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Downtown Doral, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

MAST Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Downtown Doral, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Immaculata-La Salle on the 16th.
