Basketball Recap: Evelyn Walcott's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Nichols over Starpoint

On Wednesday, the Nichols Vikings came up short against the Starpoint Spartans and fell 45-38.

Nichols lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Evelyn Walcott, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Barabas, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Nichols smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Nichols' loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Starpoint, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

As of now, neither Nichols nor Starpoint have any future games scheduled.
