Volleyball Game Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. Coronado Islanders

The Mira Mesa Marauders are taking a road trip to challenge the Coronado Islanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mira Mesa will head out to face Coronado after giving up their first home loss of the season on Tuesday. The Marauders took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission Bay.

Mira Mesa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 26-24.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Coronado's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to High Tech SD. The shutout was out of character for the Islanders seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

While Coronado was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 25-18.

Mira Mesa's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-10. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.

Mira Mesa came out on top in a nail-biter against Coronado when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
