Football Recap: Oxnard Sets Scoring Season-High Against Buena + How To Watch

Oxnard extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 28-26 heartbreaker at the hands of the Buena Bulldogs. On the bright side, the 26- point effort marked the Yellowjackets' highest-scoring contest to date.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Liston, who rushed for 94 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 109 yards and one TD. Another rusher making a difference was Jae Lomelin, who rushed for 144 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.

As for Buena, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since September 13, 2024.

Buena had a senior duo take command as Blake Eberhard rushed for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries and Jaxon Roberts rushed for 133 yards and two TDs. The Bulldogs are 4-1 when Roberts posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 0-4 otherwise.

Coming up, Oxnard will welcome Ventura at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games. As for Buena, they will face off against Moorpark at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Musketeers' defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
