Volleyball Recap: Maggie Allen Key Part of Team Effort in Panthers Win

Savannah Arts Academy posted their closest victory since August 16th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Pierce County Bears 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won nine in a row.

Savannah Arts Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 19-25, 27-25, 25-15, 15-4.

Savannah Arts Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Allen, who had 27 digs and three aces. Allen has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Storck, who had 22 digs and one assist.

They weren't the only good servers: Savannah Arts Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. They are 10-3 when they serve at least ten aces.

Savannah Arts Academy's win bumped their record up to 15-28. As for Pierce County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-21 record this season.

Savannah Arts Academy will be playing at home against Hardaway on Tuesday. Pierce County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
