Basketball Recap: Greenwood Takes a Loss

Greenwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 72-32 loss at the hands of the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Woodmen of the 73-23 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Greenwood had strong showings from Emma Gardner, who posted three points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks, and Maddison Judge, who put up six points and seven rebounds.

Franklin Community was led to victory by Izzy Stillabower and Maggie Doty. Stillabower went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points, while Doty had 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Doty a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi Bright, who posted nine points.

Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Franklin Community, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6.

Greenwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-32 defeat against Mooresville on the 17th. As for Franklin Community, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-62 loss against Franklin Central on the 17th.
