Baseball Recap: Bethany Community's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

Bethany Community lost against Burlington Christian Academy back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Bethany Community took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burlington Christian Academy. The match marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Gavin Washburn put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Brooks McDowell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The loss snapped Bethany Community's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record. As for Burlington Christian Academy, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethany Community will take on Carver at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Carver has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.8 runs per game on average), something Bethany Community will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Burlington Christian Academy, they will challenge Freedom Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Freedom Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Burlington Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
