Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pecos). Everything went their way against the Clayton Yellowjackets on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brandon Holton was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Pecos' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Jeremiah Mondragon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

Pecos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Pecos pushed their record up to 5-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Clayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Pecos didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Sandia Prep on the 3rd. As for Clayton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tucumcari at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
