Football Game Preview: Whittier Christian Heralds vs. Linfield Christian Lions

The Whittier Christian Heralds will take on the Linfield Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whittier Christian has given up an average of 30.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Whittier Christian came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by Western Christian and fell 55-20.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Linfield Christian). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Big Bear 38-0. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 31-point advantage.

Linfield Christian found their leader in sophomore Charlie Bohmer, who threw for 257 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in two scores on the ground. Bohmer's passing game has become a key predictor of the Lions' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hudson Mayer, who gained 103 total yards and a touchdown.

Linfield Christian's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Whittier Christian, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Whittier Christian was dealt a bruising 49-6 defeat at the hands of Linfield Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Lions' Micah Little, who rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one score.
