Basketball Recap: Ardrey Kell Takes a Loss

Ardrey Kell was the 55-51 winner over South Mecklenburg when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Ardrey Kell Knights were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 46-45 to the South Mecklenburg Sabres.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imani Shelton, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Karly Glahn, who posted nine points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Mecklenburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nykira Arrington, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points Arrington has posted since back in November of 2024. KB Brown was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Ardrey Kell's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for South Mecklenburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Ardrey Kell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-27 win against Olympic on the 11th. As for South Mecklenburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-19 victory against Ballantyne Ridge on the 11th.
