Basketball Recap: Christian Vigil's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pueblo South over Lewis-Palmer

If Pueblo South was riding high fresh off their 80-47 takedown of Littleton last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pueblo South Colts fell 61-50 to the Lewis-Palmer Rangers on Saturday. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Pueblo South lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Christian Vigil, who posted 12 points. Vigil continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. J'Rell Williams was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Lewis-Palmer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tommy Perez, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Those 14 points gave Perez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Hughes, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Pueblo South dropped their record down to 5-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Lewis-Palmer, their record is now 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo South will host Golden at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Golden is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Lewis-Palmer, they will welcome Overland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis-Palmer is facing Overland at the right time seeing as Overland is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
