Basketball Game Preview: Hiland Hawks vs. Garaway Pirates

Hiland is on a 19-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Garaway is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hiland Hawks will welcome the Garaway Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hiland beat Indian Valley 48-43. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Braves are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Garaway strolled past Claymont with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 59-42.

Hiland's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Garaway, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Hiland took their victory against Garaway in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 60-40. Will Hiland repeat their success, or does Garaway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
