Basketball Game Preview: Citrus Hill Hawks vs. Paloma Valley Wildcats

The Citrus Hill Hawks will square off against the Paloma Valley Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Citrus Hill beat Lakeside 60-49. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Citrus Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerren White, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. White has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 26 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kason Steward, who went 6 for 12 en route to 12 points.

Citrus Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Paloma Valley can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 64-53 win over California Lutheran.

Paloma Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Citrus Hill, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Citrus Hill came up short against Paloma Valley when the teams last played on January 7th, falling 59-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Paloma Valley's Taeshawn Armstrong, who went 10 of 20 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds.
