League recap: Whale Branch rolls against Branchville

A Region V recap Oct. 16, 2012

Whale Branch took down Branchville 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon Morton threw for 79 yards and one touchdown and ran for three yards in the win.

The Warriors led A Region V in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Yellowjackets. Morton in the win.

De'Vien Sanders was the most productive running back in the league this week. In three carries, he ran for 56 yards as Denmark-Olar defeated Branchville. Chansler Kirkland also contributed to the rushing game with 49 yards on the ground.

Delaney was the best wideout in the league this week as Jerry Hatcher's team topped Dan Reynolds' team. Delaney racked up one reception for 60 yards. Treyvon Bryan helped Whale Branch's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.

The Warriors' Morton and Delaney have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Region V in both passing and receiving yards. Morton has thrown for 605 yards this season, while Delaney, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 19 catches for 611 yards. Brandon Jordan from Allendale-Fairfax leads the league in rushing with 750 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Yellowjackets take on the Tigers. Branchville is in fifth place, while Allendale-Fairfax is in first place.

Estill made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,621 from 7,353. The improvement was the result of 40-8 victory over the Vikings last week.
