Softball Recap: Milford Central Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richfield Springs Central, Milford Central was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Worcester Wolverines a 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won four in a row.

Milford Central got a massive performance out of Kara Mertz, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma Gannon, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win got Milford Central back to even at 1-1. As for Worcester, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Milford Central and Worcester will both be playing Cherry Valley-Springfield the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will host the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
