Southeast Career Tech is 9-1 against Del Sol since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Roadrunners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dragons at 3:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southeast Career Tech comes in on ten and Del Sol on three.
Southeast Career Tech is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Green Valley, who was ranked 14th at the time (Southeast Career Tech was ranked 18th). The Roadrunners never let the Gators get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Thursday.
Harmon Nelson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Southeast Career Tech's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tiernon Wolf, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Del Sol let Desert Pines stack four runs on them in the second inning on Wednesday but luckily Del Sol prevailed anyway. The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Jaguars 7-6.
Erik Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Del Sol is undefeated when Gonzalez posts three or more RBI, but 7-11 otherwise.
Southeast Career Tech's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Del Sol, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Both Southeast Career Tech and Del Sol just can't seem to miss. The Roadrunners have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Del Sol struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Southeast Career Tech's way against Del Sol when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Southeast Career Tech made off with a 13-0 victory.
