Baseball Recap: Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet Comes Up Short

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fairview Yellowjackets.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet got a good showing from Malcolm Lane-Jackson, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lane-Jackson has become a key player for the Royals: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-10-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Michael Long was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brendan Dearing, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11-1. As for Fairview, they moved to 8-11 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

As of now, neither Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet nor the Yellowjackets have any future games scheduled.
