Flag Football Game Preview: Mountain View Toros vs. Desert Vista Thunder + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in TIERAH METCALF and Jackie Jimenez are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mountain View Toros will square off against the Desert Vista Thunder at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain View's defense has only allowed 8.2 points per game this season, so Desert Vista's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Mountain View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Red Mountain, who was ranked fifth at the time (Mountain View was ranked 12th). The Toros fell 24-17 to the Mountain Lions on Thursday. The Toros' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Desert Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Millennium on Thursday, taking the game 28-17. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.

The critical scores for Desert Vista came from Samirah Nasser-Atiase, Aleena Tonto, Jimenez, and Camille Rameriz.

One reason for the win was Desert Vista's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Lily Ahern, Juno O'Hagan, and Amaya Arredondo, who each picked up one sack apiece. Desert Vista got some further help from Naveah Jones: she made five total tackles and snagged two interceptions.

Desert Vista's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Mountain View, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 12-4.
