Basketball Recap: Smith County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Smith County came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 74-51 margin over the Monterey Wildcats on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 68-41 back in January.

Monterey's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Fowler, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 22 points and five boards. Those 22 points gave Fowler a new career-high. Garrett Wessels was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Smith County's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-15. As for Monterey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Smith County will take on Cumberland County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monterey, they will challenge Non Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
