Softball Game Preview: Highland Rebels vs. Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds

The Highland Rebels will venture away from home to square off against the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight defeats, while Sloan-Hendrix will come in with three straight victories.

Highland's last matchup with Sloan-Hendrix could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. Highland lost 11-4 to Sloan-Hendrix. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly seven runs.

For Sloan-Hendrix's part, Lauren Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Jones has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Sloan-Hendrix got a massive performance out of Brianna Cox, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Cox a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylee Brown, who scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4.

Sloan-Hendrix always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted an OBP of .138.

Sloan-Hendrix's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15.3 runs. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
