Recap: St. Edward vs. Wilcox-Hildreth
When you finish with 206.9 more yards than your opponent, a favorable outcome is sure to follow. Wilcox-Hildreth steamrollered St. Edward 76-22. Followers of Wilcox-Hildreth probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
Wilcox-Hildreth started the match off right with 58 first-half points. St. Edward put up 6, so the score was 58-6 at the half. The Wilcox-Hildreth defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 8 and all but finishing the game.
Senior Aj Jenkins was the offensive standout of the match for Wilcox-Hildreth, as he rushed for 219 yards and 4 touchdowns. In fact, with 10 tackles Jenkins was a force on both sides of the ball. Sophomore Triston Nicks was in the mix, too, providing Wilcox-Hildreth with 2 touchdowns. The win bumped their record up to 3-0. St. Edward are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Next week Wilcox-Hildreth take on Maywood/Hayes Center at 7:00 PM. Wilcox-Hildreth have bulldozed their previous three opponents, so Maywood/Hayes Center might have their hands full. As for St. Edward, they will face off against Elba.
