The Galatia/Thompsonville Bearcats will head out on the road to challenge the Vienna Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Galatia/Thompsonville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Galatia/Thompsonville proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Gallatin County 3-1.

Eli Hankins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Hankins was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, AJ Downing was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colin Jenkins, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Vienna hadn't beaten Cobden on the road since March 22, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. Vienna was the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Cobden. Considering the Eagles have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Tristan Vinson looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Vienna got a massive performance out of Braedon Hurst, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Hurst a new career-high in doubles (two). Landon Stafford also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Vienna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cobden only posted an OBP of .250.

Vienna now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Galatia/Thompsonville, their record is now 6-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Galatia/Thompsonville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vienna struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Galatia/Thompsonville suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Vienna when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Galatia/Thompsonville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
