After each having a week off, the Newnan Cougars and the New Manchester Jaguar will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Newnan's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
Newnan proved they can win big back in October (they won by 30) and last Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They slipped by McIntosh 42-41. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Chiefs are ranked 255th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newnan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kameron Davis led the charge by rushing for 64 yards and three touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Davis has posted since back in August. Newnan also got a significant boost from Shawn Grier, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, New Manchester made sure to put some points up on the board against Lithia Springs last Friday. The Jaguar claimed a resounding 40-8 win over the Leo Lion. The Jaguar haven't had any issues with the Leo Lion recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
New Manchester's win came from a few key players Newnan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Delancy Alexander, who threw for 208 yards and one TD while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Andre Gianopolous was another key rusher, rushing for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.
New Manchester's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Braylon Veal, Jonathan Moses, and Morris Swims, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Newnan's record is now 8-2. As for New Manchester, their record now sits at 8-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Newnan has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 366.1 total yards per game. However, it's not like New Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 389.4 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Newnan came up short against New Manchester in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 25-13. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
