Basketball Recap: Michael Zaleski's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Normal West over Mt. Zion

Normal West lost against Mt. Zion back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The match between the Normal West Wildcats and the Mt. Zion Braves didn't end well, with the Normal West Wildcats falling 60-41. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Zaleski, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Marvel, who posted eight points.

Normal West's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mt. Zion, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Normal West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-30 defeat against Danville on the 19th. As for Mt. Zion, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-50 victory against Mattoon on the 20th.
