Baseball Recap: Naples Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Naples ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Avoca Central Titans. This was a revenge game for the Big Green Machines: when they faced off against the Titans last Saturday, they had to take a 5-0 loss.

Chase Bauman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ollie Bruen, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. He has become a key player for Naples: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 0-4 otherwise.

Naples now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Avoca Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Coming up, Naples will head out on the road to challenge Red Jacket at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avoca Central, they will be playing at home against Addison at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
