Basketball Recap: Summers County Takes a Loss

Summers County played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Summit Christian Academy Falcons, falling 72-52. The loss leaves the Bobcats without a win on the season.

Summit Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but MJ Patton led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Chance Watkins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Summers County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Summit Christian Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Summers County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Independence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Summers County is facing Independence at the right time seeing as Independence is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will face off against Tazewell on Saturday. Summit Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Tazewell likes a good challenge.
