Softball Recap: Aquinas Institute Little Irish vs. Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders
It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Aquinas Institute ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-3 back in April.
Kendall Buttles was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over nine innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Buttles was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Addison Whipple and Delaney Buttles did most of the damage at the plate: Whipple went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Delaney went 2-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI. Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas Institute will challenge Brighton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Palmyra-Macedon, they will square off against Mynderse Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
