Basketball Game Preview: Brantley County Herons vs. Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane

After both having extra time off, the Brantley County Herons and the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Fitzgerald took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Brantley County, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Brantley County was fully in charge, breezing past Pierce County 59-30. The Herons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 54-44 to Wilcox County. While losing is never fun, the Purple Hurricane can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while the Patriots are ranked 151st).

Brantley County's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Fitzgerald, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Brantley County took a serious blow against Fitzgerald in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, falling 73-28. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Brantley County was down 37-11.
