Softball Preview: Bangor Rams vs. Ellsworth Eagles
The Bangor Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Ellsworth Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Monday, Bangor came up short against Brewer and fell 8-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Witches: they've now lost three in a row.

Sophie Lynch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lynch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Abby Folsom also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ellsworth). They put the hurt on John Bapst Memorial with a sharp 12-1 win on Tuesday. The Eagles not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 28, 2024 (when they won 19-2).
Jasmine Emerton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Maddie Damon was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Ellsworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Bapst Memorial only posted an OBP of .071.
Ellsworth's record is now 2-3. As for Bangor, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bangor has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ellsworth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bangor came up short against Ellsworth in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
