Baseball Recap: Discovery Beats Lake Region for Their Third Straight Win

Discovery took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Lake Region, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Discovery Spartans won by a run and slipped past the Lake Region Thunder 6-5. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three contests in a row.

Tylor Timmons spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hunter Benjamin was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Evan Devore, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Discovery's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Lake Region, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Coincidentally, Discovery and Lake Region will both be playing Ridge Community the next time they take the field. Lake Region will head out to face Ridge Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Discovery will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on April 3rd.
