Softball Game Preview: Clinton Red Devils vs. Chester Cyclones

Clinton hasn't had much luck against Chester recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. Clinton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Chester's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Clinton's win against Abbeville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Panthers on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Chester never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Fairfield Central. The Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Chester, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Clinton couldn't quite get it done against Chester when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 10-6. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
