Baseball Game Preview: Lyle/Pacelli Cougars vs. Hayfield Vikings

The Lyle/Pacelli Cougars will take on the Hayfield Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lyle/Pacelli's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Hayfield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lyle/Pacelli came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-4 to Southland. The loss was the Cougars' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Hayfield earned a 9-4 win over Mabel-Canton on Thursday.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lyle/Pacelli fell to 6-1. As for Hayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Lyle/Pacelli came out on top in a nail-biter against Hayfield when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
