Softball Recap: Celeste Snags Tenth Win in Last 11 Games

Celeste lost to North Hopkins last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won 14 matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Madilen Fronterhouse made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Nickell, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mya Mainord, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Celeste was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 13 consecutive games.

Celeste has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for North Hopkins, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.

Celeste has already played their next matchup, a 16-6 win against Bland on the 15th. As for North Hopkins, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 19-0 victory against Sulphur Bluff on the 15th.
