Recap: Circle Christian Centurions vs. Winter Springs Bears

If the Circle Christian Centurions were feeling good off their 60-35 takedown of the Elite Prep Academy Eagles last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Circle Christian ended up on the wrong side of a rough 77-51 walloping at the hands of Winter Springs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Circle Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 599th, while Winter Springs is ranked 224th).

Circle Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Connor Lion, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds, and Lucas Valdes who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lion has scored all season.

Saige Carnegie was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 25 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Williams, who scored 16 points.

Circle Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Winter Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Circle Christian will play host again and welcome Varsity Opponent, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Winter Springs, Winter Springs and Lake Mary Prep will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
