Baseball Recap: Charlottesville Extends Winning Streak to Three

Charlottesville extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 12-6 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Western Albemarle Warriors. This was a revenge game for the Black Knights: when they faced off against the Warriors back in April, they had to take a 13-7 defeat.

Charlottesville's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mason Divers, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Western Albemarle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 runs.

On Western Albemarle's side, Jack Parkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Parkins has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Charlottesville is set to square off against their familiar foe Orange County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Black Knights' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Fighting Hornets have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Western Albemarle will face off against rival Albemarle at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
