Basketball Recap: Olive Branch Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Olive Branch won the last time they faced Center Hill and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Olive Branch Conquistadors strolled past the Center Hill Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 76-61. Given the Conquistadors' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Mustangs are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Center Hill lost, don't look at Madison S. Hughes. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 boards. That was a full 41% of Center Hill's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yazlyn Buffington, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points.

Olive Branch pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game.
