Softball Recap: Lakeside's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison, Lakeside was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Laurel Gators. Considering the Dragons' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jules Lavender made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Lavender was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Chatman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last eight games. Another player making a difference was Jada Lavender, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lakeside moved to 3-16 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Laurel, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeside beat the Gators by a score of 18-6 later that day.
