Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Newcomerstown's Winning Streak

Newcomerstown has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.89 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against the Ridgewood Generals, falling 12-2. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Bo Black put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Black wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zane Popadak, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Newcomerstown's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Ridgewood, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
