Volleyball Recap: Village Christian Takes Down Fullerton in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Village Christian rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Fullerton Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crusaders have posted since April 12, 2024.

Village Christian was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (106-100), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 13-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Brandon Reed paced Village Christian's offense, picking up 17 kills. Reed got some help from Walton Salazar and his 53 assists. Salazar was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Village Christian has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season. As for Fullerton, they dropped their record down to 18-19 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Village Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Centennial on the 3rd. Fullerton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
